city health officials order restaurant to stop serving hummus
July 14, 2007—City Health Department officials ordered Pars Cove to stop serving hummus following reports that the number of people ill from the eatery's food had skyrocketed to 378.
The complaints originate from a booth run by the restaurant at the Taste of Chicago festival. Officials already have confirmed 32 cases of salmonella poisoning, with additional tests still pending.
The problem stems from an herb tomato cucumber salad that was served on the hummus shirazi at a booth operated by Pars Cove Restaurant.
